Floorp v12.20.2 is now available. Alongside Firefox 158, this update fixes memory reclaim, resource cleanup, and issues affecting everyday browser use.

🔄 Updated to Firefox 158

The Firefox base has been updated from 157.0.1 to Firefox 158, incorporating upstream bug fixes and security fixes.

🧠 Memory reclaim and cleanup fixes

Fixed an issue where idle memory reclaim could stop working after restarting Floorp, even when it was enabled in settings. Reclaim now continues to run according to the configured conditions after a restart.

We also improved cleanup when closing browser windows or unloading Web Panels, removing observers and event handlers that were no longer needed. This includes Web App (PWA) observers, Chrome extension confirmation handling, and handlers associated with command palette toggles.

🛠️ Bug fixes

  • Japanese input in macOS Web Apps: fixed an issue in experimental Web Apps where repeatedly pressing Space to select a conversion candidate could replace the composition with whitespace.
  • Editing in macOS Web Apps: fixed input initialization and an issue where outdated state could prevent available editing commands, such as Paste, from running in an editable field.
  • Command palette settings: fixed slider changes not being reflected in settings values.
  • Appearance across windows: preserved the theme and status bar buttons in remaining windows when another window closes.
  • Chrome extension confirmation display: made installation confirmation customization follow the window where installation was started, preventing state from being mixed between windows and clearing leftover work when a window closes.
  • Command palette lifecycle: fixed display state after turning the feature off and back on, and cleaned up duplicate shutdown handlers.
  • Contextual search suggestions: fixed errors when generating site-specific search suggestions before the engine configuration had loaded.
  • Links in Settings and Welcome: fixed external links failing to open.
  • Default preference generation: fixed some JSON-valued default preferences being generated incorrectly during the build.

The macOS fixes above apply to experimental native Web Apps (App Shim) offered through Floorp Flasco. To receive the Japanese input fix in an existing app, reinstall that app after updating Floorp.
